Regional Computer Recycling
First in NY to Receive Exclusive R2/RIOS™ Recycling and NAID Data Security
Certifications
ROCHESTER, NY.
(July 11, 2011) – Regional Computer Recycling & Recovery (RCR&R), the largest
independent Information Technology Asset Disposition (ITAD) company in New York,
today announced that it was awarded NAID AAA Certification for Hard Drive
Destruction and Sanitization Operations and has also earned the highest U.S.
industry designation—R2/RIOS Certified Electronics Recycler®—for
quality, environment, health and safety and data security throughout the
electronics recycling process.
RCR&R
was awarded the certifications following eleven days of extensive, internal
audits conducted by an ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board third-party auditor
and is now the only New York based electronics recycler to hold all three of
these exclusive certifications.
"Since 1995,
RCR&R has been an innovative leader in the electronics recycling industry. These
certifications are a testament to our organization and all of our employees who
have consistently operated at such a high level with dedication to customer
quality, data security, environmental stewardship, and professionalism" said
Michael Whyte, RCR&R President.
R2/RIOS™ is the
combination of two stringent accredited standards: the Responsible Recycling
Practices (R2), developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and
the Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS®),
developed by the Institute for Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI). The result is
an exacting standard for responsible electronics reuse and recycling and
recognition in the market via R2/RIOS certification as a Certified Electronics
Recycler®. Electronics recycling is a fast-growing industry that
creates high-paying, green jobs and boosts the U.S. and global economy.
“Regional
Computer Recycling & Recovery is a leader in the electronics recycling industry
and has invested significantly to ensure that recycling is done the right way –
responsibly and safely,” said Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI)
President Robin Wiener.
The NAID AAA Certification
for Hard Drive Destruction and Sanitization Operations was developed by the
National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), the trade association
for the secure data destruction industry. The NAID Certification program
establishes standards for a secure destruction process including such areas as
operational security, employee hiring and screening, the destruction process,
responsible disposal and insurance.
“Almost every
computer recycling company pays lip service to data security,” said NAID CEO Bob
Johnson. “But you know they are serious about it when they successfully complete
the NAID Certification process. There are only a select group of 10 firms in
North America that have qualified for the organization’s Sanitization Operations
certification. “
